  • Contributed to pumps, heaters, heat exchangers, vessels, pipe schedule (to Shell’s MESC codes) & structural steel using weld map data.
  • Implemented Autodesk Inventor & Vault s/w for the site in accordance with Cameron’s CAD & Vault procedures & then used Inventor / Vault to create the Flash Separator Vessel & its Internal Equipment drawings for the tendering Datasheet, including Design & Drawing of temporary inspection floors. Further 3D CAD design to create a ‘Product Range’ of Flash Separators from 2 meters diameter to 5 metres diameter.
  • Regularly used SAP, Autocad 2D, & NavisWorks software to interrogate the PDMS CAD model & mentored junior colleagues as required.
  • Interrogated ‘Philosophy’ docs to author the first Draft of the ‘Notified Body’ document for CE marking & SIL rating of the complete MEG Plant.
  • Evolve a SAP BoM structure for an entire MEG plant, to act as the ‘Engineering BoM’ (Usage = 2 BoM) for future MEG projects
  • Authored a SAP procedure to obtain Business Cards using SAP’s ‘Shopping Cart functionality. Also contributed to the LAGGAN project.

Cameron Subsea Overview:

Project Support Services to the Subsea Equipment EPC Design team on the USAN field off Nigeria. (8 Manifolds & 35 – 40 Xtrees. Project SoW valued at approx. £900m.) Ad-hoc Mechanical Engineering work as necessary, & with 3D / 2D CAD design services.

Oil fields in the Niger Delta
  • Supported EPC Project team for an oil field of 40+ Xtrees and 8 manifolds in all aspects of the design phase with 3D CAD work, calcs, and documentation.
  • Implemented Autodesk Inventor & Vault 3D CAD early on to enable subsea Oil Field layout, and work with Controls Engineering, ROV intervention studies (for drag loads and installation access,) and Riser group for vessel ‘moon pool’ deck equipment layout studies. 3D CAD had immediate benefit with the umbilicals lengths work, & radical improvement of presentation information to Client – very welcome by the Client. (French oil company “Total”)
Created (or sourced) all 3D CAD data as it was key to the design direction for drill center and field layouts – cables / umbilicals, manifolds, suction piles, Xtrees, FLETs / PLETs / PLEMs, and pipe connections.
Worked with:
  • Devise lifting / handling equipment.
  • Draft control system P&IDs for drill centres and field.
  • Do sea Load and weight limit calcs.
  • Interfacing for some vendor collaboration.
  • Using SAP for Change control, Item Lists, document + drawing uploads and peer reviewing.
  • Be the CAD + Vault site administrator.
  • Interviewing CAD candidates, and did some draughting and SAP support for project AKPO .

Full details of this role:
  • Implemented ‘Inventor’ 3D CAD for project use thus upgrading the Assembly interfacing & presentation capabilities of the EPC team.
3D Drill Centre layout drawings created with fully detailed 3D CAD models (from vendors or created by me) of ALL the equipment as follows:-

1/ Manifold & Suction Pile.
2/ Xtrees & guide bases.
3/ Distribution Units for controls umbilicals.
4/ FLETs/PLETs/PLEMs, & ILTs.
5/ Control Modules (SCM’s & MCM’s.) for XTrees + Manifolds.
6/ Pipework & Connections Tools & RoV equipment.
  • Responsible for defining umbilical lengths, & minimizing crossings points, including the parking of umbilicals during installation + recovery events on XTree SCM’s + Manifold MCM’s. Innovation & Design of Spread bar & installation kit for location constraining of umbilicals.
  • ROV load simulations for the Flying Lead Orientation Tool head during Umbilical installation. Xtree to Manifold ‘Product Jumper’ pipework Schemes modelled for buoyancy analysis & connection tool clearance checks at the Xtrees & Manifold interfaces.
  • Worked with Controls Engineer to create the 2D P&IDs of the entire control system. P&ID updates also done for Xtrees, & Manifolds. Created the ‘attributed’ 2D AutoCAD drawing sheets with the USAN project logo for use by vendors & colleagues. Also interviewed CAD candidates.
  • Connection checking – ROV access & connection tools studies to allow installation & interface checking of connections philosophies.
  • Supported the Riser team with their riser (Drilling + IWOCS) deck handling concepts as follows:-
3D CAD modelling, draughting, & SAP BoM structuring,
as well as sea loading calcs for the Riser Umbilical while parked on the gooseneck support. Also did Weight calcs for cherry picker weight limits & designed Sheaves. CAD models done for the cherry picker & moon pool deck, transport baskets, goosenecks, & cable roller drums.
  • Drill center 3D Model shared with SURF contractor (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers & Flow lines) for them to understand umbilical’s layout intent. .
  • Document commenting & reviewing with Cfolders + Livelink (Doc control s/w) for client review & approval. Used SAPs ECO process for publishing approved docs, drgs, & BoM’s for visibility to procurement & global manufacturing partner’s facilities. Contributed to AKPO docs.
